Ballet Attire Requirements

We are constantly reminding everyone about the ballet dress code. Pink tights, pink ballet shoes, any colored leotard and hair in bun. We will no longer allow any dancer to enter the ballet classes without proper attire and hair in bun. Dance is a discipline and just like school and every other job you will have in life, there will be requirements. Please follow this simple rule. If you cannot afford a leotard, tights and shoes, please check at the front desk to help you finance these requirements. We have ordered extra tights to keep on hand at all times. You all should have some type of dance bag - keep leo, tights and all your shoes in your bag so that you have them with you at all times. We have a locker room to hang your bags and keep your things up out of the floor. Discipline yourselves to always be prepared. Keep all your hair accessories in your bag as well. We are a dance school trying to better our students and prepare them for college and the real world of always being prepared and thinking for themselves. Please do not attend Miss Alex's classes if you do not plan on following her rules. This goes for the ThunderBoltz on Saturday classes as well.

West Coast Dance Explosion

We are so excited to be attending the West Coast Dance Explosion workshop again this coming February 9-10, 2013 in Greenville, South Carolina.

We had 28 students attend the workshop last year and we all had a blast! The students work with many teachers on Saturday and Sunday of the workshop. We would love to take our small groups and our trios for the competition.

The workshop is $210 - due as soon as you can get it in. (Note: This workshop and competition are not mandatory)

Also any parents that want to watch will have to purchase a parent bracelet.
Competition Fees are as follows:
$50 per trio member
$37 per student for each small group
Note: You do not have to attend this workshop to be able to attend the Vegas Workshop in July.
We like to stay in the host hotel, Hyatt in downtown Greenville - to make reservations call 800-891-3797 and make sure you tell them you are with the west coast dance explosion. The rooms fill up fast so if you are even thinking about going, I would suggest making your reservations now.

New Billing System

We are in the process of implementing a new billing system over the next few days. This new system will create monthly tuition invoices for us automatically and will save us alot of computer time. It will also email invoices to our customers. So, do not be alarmed if you receive an invoice/statement via email. We are also hoping to add the ability for you to pay your bill on-line very soon.

One note: We had to go back to the middle of August and rebuild our data, so we added the costumes (entire balance) as a line item on each statement. Some of the statements will have the first $100 deposit if it was invoiced or paid before August 10 - 14. The $100 already billedwill be subtracted from your total costumes billed on the new invoice. If your costume deposit was not billed until after August 15, you will see one invoice for the total costume balance.

For example:
Lola - $200 total
Proud Mary - $200 total

If you already had a $100 deposit billed, you will see the $100 deposit billed and probably paid by the majority of you and then you will see a new invoice for $300. Which totals the $400 costume total. All payments will be entered to offset any deposits that you have already made. Please feel free to ask any questions. We just went ahead and billed total costume balances since they will be due sooner than later and this gives you a chance to be prepared.

Thanks so much!

Costumes Update

Just spoke to our seamstresses and here's the updates:

Proud Mary (SpitFires, ThunderBoltz and BombShells) will be ready to ship by the end of the month - be ready to pay the final $100 for it by the end of the month

Dance with Somebody (B52s and Phantoms) will be ready to ship by the end of this month - be ready to pay the final $100 for it by the end of the month

Safe and Sound (B52s) will be ready by the end of this month to pay the final balance

Lola (SpitFires) will be ready by the end of this month to pay the remaining $100

Itsy Bitsy Spider (Bombshells) will be ready by the end of this month. Be ready to pay your final balance.

They are working on Hot Chocolate (ThunderBoltz) this weekend so I am sure it will be ready soon as well.

I know it's been hard paying for all these costumes but I feel we have great seamstresses this year and we will not have to be remaking costumes when they arrive and they will arrive in plenty of time.

We are definitely going to be ready for our first competition!

Prayer Requests

Please help us pray for BombShell Kaitlyn Baucom's mother Jennifer who had emergency gall bladder surgery this week and for our sweet Caroline Kmiecik who broke her wrist at tumbling on Thursday night. We love them both and wish them both speedy recoveries!

We didn't bill the balances this month but we are expecting the line dances to be ready in the next 3-4 weeks. We do have rehearsals on Saturday, September 7. The schedule is posted on the website www.TheLegacyDance.com/blog. We will stick to this schedule as much as possible this year. Thanks so much!

Goals and Evaluations for 2012-2013

We would like to begin a program that we wanted to put in place last year to track each individual student's progress based on their goals. We would like for each student to list their goals for this semester on an evalution sheet that will be provided to you this week.

The students will receive feedback from their instructors on how to accomplish their goals. We are hoping this new system helps track growth for our students on an individual basis.

Tryouts Info

Hope that everyone is having a wonderful summer! Can't believe it's time for our 2012 Summer Camp and Tryouts! We are so excited to begin a new year! We hope everyone is excited as we are to work hard in 2012 and really shine in 2013. We are working on getting a tumbling program established but do not have that finalized yet. Alex will continue to be our ballet teacher and we are hoping for a big commitment from our 3 oldest teams to step up and work hard in her classes. Team Workshops for our 3 older teams will continue on a mandatory basis. Please wear your pink tinks, leo, hair in bun and pink ballet shoes as Alex as requested when we begin back.

Just to clear up a few questions about tryouts:

1. You can wear any color you want to tryouts. Be creative as you would like to be, but please understand that we do not add points or take points away based on what you are wearing at tryouts. You will be judged on your dancing abilities and performance abilities only.

2. Solos, duet/trios and small groups WILL BE selected from the TOP scores, and NOT based on the students who have the best tryout dance attire or because they take private lessons. This is not a popularity contest. This level of dance takes complete commitment and understanding that the student wants to commit to dance as their NUMBER 1 activity. It takes students who try to apply the corrections that they are given daily in class and tries not to have be given the same corrections over and over. Performance ability is a major key. You will not get a solo by being reserved with your moves and reserved with your personality. Our very qualified judges who do not work with the students on a daily basis will be responsible for selecting students to fill these slots. We are spending alot of money on hiring qualified judges for the week and on Saturday to make sure the tryouts are handled fairly.

Things that will add points to your tryout scores:
1. Flexibility
2. Good Lines, use your turn out, open your chest, lengthen your neck, REALLY REALLY STRETCH YOUR FEET use the technique Alex and I have work with you all on this summer - Not bent knees and flexed feet and NEVER EVER WALK ON YOUR HEELS.
3. Strong, Alive Arms
4. Personality and performance abilities
5. Knowing your choreographing you learn in the workshop and performing it and not just going through the movements. If you do not know your choreography, this will not be good.
6. If you have any special tricks, work on them to show. Turns, leaps, tumbling

So proud!

So very proud of all of our Legacy Dance students on a wonderful job at nationals!

Summer Session 2 begins on Monday, July 9th! It is very important to attend summer classes to work on new skills. We have very limited time during the year with choreography and dances that we rarely get opportunities to work on learning new things. We will try to have more day camps as well to work on turning and tricks. Watch the Blogs for these camps. Stretch as much as possible this summer and really use your ballet bands to work on your feet daily.

Sell Old Costumes?

If you would like to sell any of your old costumes after nationals, please put your name, your price and the size of the costume in a plastic zip lock bag. We will gather all costumes and send them to California to try to resale for you. They charge 25% of the total fee and ship to the customer fee so keep this in mind when you are pricing your costumes. You will not receive your money until the costume is sold.

For example, By Your Side Costume - $150, State of Shock Costume - $175

NATIONALS VIDEOS

Good morning... I talked to the folks who are doing the videos at Nationals and they let me know that based on our 31 entries and 32 families (so far) that the cost per video will be $35.00 each. If we get up to 40 families, the price will go to $32.00 - not a super big savings.

Each family can either write a check for $35.00 payable to Take 2 Video and give to me or whoever is at the desk and I will collect them tonight OR they can go to the video table at the competition and give them a check or credit card. They need to tell them they are part of the Legacy Dance Studio team.
On the first day, I plan to give them our form with all of the dances and the families listed that have signed up in advance along with any checks that I received.
Hope this makes sense!!! Let me know if there are any questions...
Thanks!!!!
Melissa Kmiecik

Nationals Information

I know it's summer and alot of you are ready to rest, but let's keep in mind we only have 2 more weeks to feel really really good about our dances. This year's nationals is going to be really tough. It's going to be a great honor to make it to the Shootout. Please come to your rehearsals for the next 2 weeks and then we will take a break.

Phantoms and B52's are welcome to come to as many ballet techniques and leaps and turns as they would like to attend. B52's can attend the Phantoms and Phantoms can attend the B52s. We have invested too much time and money not to excel at nationals. Thanks to you all!

National Finals Shootout Championship Information

The Shootout Championship Show will take place at the end of the regular National Competition and consist of (at least) the EIGHT top scoring routines in each age group (Petite, Junior, Teen, Senior). Shootout numbers will be chosen from all performance levels and from small groups, large groups and lines. A studio may only be represented once in each age group (Petite, Junior, Teen, Senior); thus each studio may have a maximum of FOUR routines competing in the Shootout. Shootout Champions, 1st and 2nd Runners Up will be presented in each age group. Shootout Champions will receive $250 cash plus a $250 Gift Certificate toward any 2013 Regional Competition. First Runners Up will receive a $200 Gift Certificate toward any 2013 Regional Competition, and 2nd Runners Up will receive a $100 Gift Certificate toward any 2013 Regionals.

Secondary Qualification:
A studio may qualify a SECOND Shootout routine in each Age Group if:
1. The routine's score would have originally qualified it for the Shootout.
2. The two qualifying teams have completely different performers.

No previously-qualified routines will be eliminated due to Secondary Qualification. If Secondary Qualification occurs, the Show will consist of more than eight routines in each age group.

Saturday Rehearsal Schedule

I would like to have as many come to Saturday, June 16 rehearsal if possible. Andy is still in AAA and coming to Nashville to play on Tuesday, June 19th. We will still have classes but I will have someone else running classes Tuesday thru Thursday. I hope that's ok. I have only seen Andy for 3 days since March and I would love to spend time with him while he is in Nashville. I know many of you wanted to attend his games as well. He is not getting to play much on this team yet but it's ok. We can still be there to support him.

So the nationals schedule begins everyday at 7:00 am and goes until 11 - midnight everyday and ends Sunday night at 8:30 pm. This competition has never been this large. I want us to be prepared and do as much rehearsing as we can. Please attend these rehearsals if at all possible.

Saturday, May 16
9:00 am - 10:00 am ALL Soloists
10:00 am - 11:00 am ALL duet/trios
11:00 am - 12:00 pm ALL Small groups - Iris, Earth, Hot Notes, Going Postal (not small but that's ok)
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm ALL Production/Lines - Grease, Pirates, Aye Caramba!
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm ALL Large Groups - Jungle, State of Shock, Queen of Hearts, Foot Prints, River Deep,
Rumors, By Your Side

Plan on this same schedule for Saturday, June 23. Let's be as prepared as possible for nationals. Thanks

Thank you!

Thank you is not enough to express the gratitude for the amazing gift from you all. I do not expect or deserve such generosity. I am truly blessed and so thankful for you all. I could not have received a better gift for the studio. My laptop is definitely on it's last few days. I can't wait to start using this. Thanks also for the gift cards for me and Jane for the spa! We love you all so much!

Important Info

First, OMG...what a wonderful job you all did! I was truly amazed by your performances! We had such a wonderful show. Thanks to all students and parents for all the hard work and dedication for making our show a complete success. We are all praying for our sweet Caroline Kmiecik this morning and hoping her pain will be relieved soon.

The Gatlinburg schedule is posted on their website. We will probably receive the detailed schedule in a day or two and will pass that info along to you all. It looks like it's going to be a huge show. Let's all work hard and come to all of the technique and all company rehearsals. Let's work hard and really do well a nationals. I am sure there will be many wonderful studios just like last year.

June's statement is $105 for everyone unless you are not dancing next year and do not plan on attending the extra classes, then your statement is your normal monthly fee. Let's work hard this summer and learn some new tricks and improve on our technique. Summer classes are where we have time to work on new skills. Let's use this time wisely. Thanks so much to you all for everything. We do love you all!

LEGACY DANCE STUDIO 2012 PRESENTS

“SEA OF DREAMS”

Rehearsal 2 – June 8th, Tennessee Performing Arts Center – Jackson Theatre – Arrive at 1:00 pm – Rehearsal Begins promptly at 2:00 pm

****The country music “fan fare” will be in town this weekend. Please try to arrive as early as possible and expect traffic to be terrible. Allow yourself extra time.********

NOTE: DUE TO CONSTRUCTION AT TPAC, PLEASE ENTER THE UNION STREET STAGE DOOR ENTRANCE FOR FRIDAY REHEARSALS AND STARUDAYS SHOW. Both ends of the sidewalk tunnel will be open for accessing the stage door entrance. Please enter the tunnel at 5th Ave. or 6th Ave. You won’t be able to enter the tunnel in the middle of the UNION STREET block.

1. Rehearsal 2 is mandatory for everyone. This is such a wonderful day of fun and friendships with teammates. Bring your cameras!

2. Bring your coolers (on wheels would be helpful for you) and a blanket. Please bring non-colored drinks such as sprites and waters. Please bring plenty of snacks and your dinner. There are a few restaurants close to TPAC but there really isn’t a lot of time to go eat and get back. Our shows move fast and we stay on time. Plus EVERYONE needs to be present for the awards ceremony.

3. Rehearsal 2 is in black dance clothing again. Please arrive with your hair and makeup ready for your first dance. This will save you time later for our dress rehearsal.

4. The non-dress rehearsal begins at 2:00 pm. We will not wait on anyone. Not trying to be mean, but we have a strict time schedule that we must stay on. We will not take our intermission during this rehearsal.

5. The TPAC production staff will be working with Shawn on lighting during this rehearsal. Please do not judge the lighting or complain about it during this rehearsal. Some moments may be dark during this rehearsal but will not be on the night of the show. They will be changing the lights trying to figure out what works best, so the night of the show will be perfect. Thanks for your understanding.

6. We will have a quick awards ceremony at 5:00 pm.

7. We will take our dinner break 5:15 – 6:00 pm. Take this time to dress in your 1st costume.

8. The full dress rehearsal will begin at 6:00 pm.

9. Please make sure students wear their Legacy Jackets or a cover up if they leave the dressing room in their costume. Students are encouraged to watch the rehearsals in the audience in their costumes with a coverup.

10. We will try not to stop the full dress rehearsal unless it is completely necessary.

11. We will rehearse finale during this rehearsal.

12. Each class will be assigned a team leader. Your team leader will be responsible for meeting you in your dressing room 6 numbers before you dance. Parents, please be sure to have your children in their dressing room ready to perform 6 numbers before their dance. This is very important to keep our show flowing. This will also ease everyone’s stress of “where do I need to be and when do I need to be there”. The team leader will take all the students to the stage and the parents can go sit and enjoy the show. The team leader will then take the students back to their dressing room to meet their parents after they dance.

13. The most important rule of this day is to relax and enjoy this day with your child. These memories will last a lifetime.

Gearing up for Recital

We couldn't be more proud of all of our teams this year. Everyone of you have worked hard and have come so far. The performance levels have gone above and beyond my expectations for just our 3rd year together. You all have amazed me. Thank you so much for your dedication to me and to each other this year. It's been a wonderful competition experience this year.
We have our first rehearsal at Nolensville Elementary on Wednesday, May 30 at 5:30 pm. Please arrive a little early if you can. I want you guys to be professional all the way from rehearsal 1 to the finale on recital night. Please wear you black dance attire and have your hair up in a nice bun or faux hauk. Let's look very professional all the way through. Last year we had alot of hair pieces and costumes flying across the stage. We do not need that this year. Use zip ties or whatever it takes to keep your accessories on your body. I know some of you have quick changes but recruit help or whatever it takes to make sure everything about your costumes are secure.

Let's take recital seriously but have a wonderful time. The non-company students will look to you for how to perform and I expect you to show them in every dance that you are rehearsing. No marking anything in these rehearsals. Everything is to be full out. You never know who is in the audience watching you.

It is very important for you to watch all dances and to clap and cheer on everyone. I do expect alot from you all because I believe in you and you are the most wonderful students and caring parents. You have set the bar high. Thank you all!

Our show is dedicated to our 2012 graduates. We love you all very much!

Help Request

Mr. Kenny is having dental surgery on Wednesday, May 30th and will not be able to move props on and off the gymnasium floor at our Nolensville Rehearsal. We will need about 4-5 Dads to stay the entire rehearsal and help unload and reload the truck and unload again at the studio. Thanks to Mr. Jerry Rust for providing the big truck to haul our props to the gymnasium. Thank you all for all you do for the studio and for your children.

Volunteers Needed

We are having our Nolensville rehearsal on Wednesday, May 30 starting around 5:00 pm - 5:30 pm. We have 3 trucks in our family but would like to see if there are any other volunteers with trucks that could help us haul all of our props for recital to the Nolensville Elementary School for the rehearsal and then take them back to the studio after rehearsals around 9 pm. We would like to save money by not renting the big truck since we are only traveling a few miles down the road. Please email us if you can commit your truck and muscles! Thanks for all you guys do!

Parents, Are you READY????!!!!

We are bringing back the 70's for "Sea of Dreams" with your help.  We would like to get at least 5 sets of couples to do one part and then there are several different parts where we will need single dancers as well.  We will be bringing dancers on and off and you will not have to learn as much.  It should be fun and very entertaining!  Our music was $100 to have mixed, so if you could pay $5 to help cover that, that would be great.  We need as many as possible, couples and non-couples.  There will also be Afros and funky 70's clothing involved!  We will plan on starting next Friday night, May 11th at 7:00 pm.  Hope everyone will participate and we need as many Dads as possible!

Competition Entry Review Sheets

The May Competiiton entry details are ready for review at the front desk. Some of you noticed names missing from Stage One programs. We are not perfect and will provide review sheets when possible for you to help us review to make sure all students are listed. The competitions are not perfect either and between the 2 of us, mistakes happen and we apologize in advance if a child's name is left off a dance. Dancers are counted when they enter the stage and if there are differences in the number that we have registered and the number that are on stage dancing, they bill us after the fact. Unfortunately, there are never refunds, lol!

Recital Tickets

Our recital tickets will be available for pick up on Tuesday May 1 after 6:00 pm after the May balance is paid in full. Thanks!

Thank You and More Info

What a wonderful weekend in Atlanta! Thanks to you all for driving so far and dancing so beautifully. We couldn't be prouder of everyone! Thanks to all of our Prop Parents and Brothers. What would we do without you all! We are so very blessed!

It was a great competition and we saw some amazing studios and dancers. Thanks Parents for taking the time and financial commitment to travel to other locations.

Our Grease costumes are shipping today. We would love to hand these out as soon as they arrive. We didn't charge the entire balance yet so please be prepared to pay the balance to take these home. The BombShells, ThunderBoltz and SpitFires will owe $50 and the Phantoms and B52 will owe $75(this includes the matching jacket).

We have to pay TPAC on Friday so it will be helpful to us if you could pay this balance since we had to pay the Grease balance over the weekend to our designer so she could ship them.

Also, we have many that have not paid their April balance yet which includes the ShowStopper fees. We have to have your April balances paid by the end of this week to enter ShowStoppers. Not a threat, just a fact. Everyone please get your April balances paid in full this week. Thanks to everyone who has already paid this balance and sorry to have to continue to read these messages. Thanks so much!

Stage One Nationals Information - Grease and FootPrints

I have been working with Stage One on qualifying Grease and Foot Prints for Nationals. They will not let us send a video to qualify so whoever can come to Gatlinburg and dance in the qualifications on Thursday, June 28th, that will be great. If you cannot come and did not plan to come until Friday, June 29th, it's ok. We will just do the dance the best we can and at least qualify. Everyone will pay $35 for the qualifications (whether you can make it or not on the 28th, sorry) and then the $45 for our nationals. NexStar really spoiled us last year by not requiring all dances to qualify as long as the student was qualified. Sorry about this. Let us know immediately if you will not be able to be in Gatlinburg on Thursday, June 28th to dance in the qualifications. Thanks for all you do! See you all at the picnic on Saturday!

Stage One Nationals Fees - What to Expect

Time is flying by. We would like to get the Stage One Nationals fees in before their deadline. The Atlanta competition filled up so quickly that they had to cut off registration early. Below are the fees for the Stage One Nationals. They will be on your May bill which will have to be paid in full to receive your recital tickets. Some of you have already paid $125 toward these fees. This amount will be deducted from your Stage One Charge on your May bills. Thanks! If you do not pay, you will not be entered. This applies to paying for groups as well. We do not have the money to be paying competition fees for you. Thanks for understanding this.

I have a call into the competition to find out if we will have to pre-qualify Grease and Foot Prints. I expect to the answer to be yes, so plan on Grease being $35 for the regional qualifications and $45 for the national entry fee, same for FootPrints. I will pass this information along to you when I hear back from the director.

2012 Stage One National Finals Entry Fees
Solo $100.00 per entry
Duet/Trio $110.00 per entry
Small Group $45.00 per person
Large Group $45.00 per person
Line $45.00 per person
Photogenic
$40.00 per entry (Solo only, maximum two photos per entry,
and will be judged before the solo division for the age group begins)

Grease Jackets

Hello! Thanks to everyone who has been on the hunt for the jackets. The problem is that we need 27 jackets to all be the same in a variation of sizes. I asked the California Company how much to make a simple little jacket for us would be and she quoted us $25 made of the same material as the pants ( looks like leather) but would have no zippers. Let us know what you think. We wanted to keep this costume as low cost as possible. This would be this costume at $135 for the pants, bra top and jacket. Let us know if you have had any look finding these jackets cheaper and that we could get 27 in sizes Child Large thru Adult Medium/Large. Thanks to you all so much! This year has flown by! So proud of everyone's hard work and dedication. Email: thelegacydance@gmail.com

Very Important

Very important! Please help us out. We have alot of money tied up right now in costumes and competition fees due. The lady making the Grease costumes is wanting $50 per costume deposit. Please pay $50 plus your ShowStopper Fees before leaving to go to Spring Break next week so that she can begin our costumes. We would love to get them back in time for Company pictures which is the week of May 7. This $50 deposit applies to all female students. If we do not receive your deposit before Sunday April 1, we will assume that you are not planning on participating in the dance. 60 x $50 is $3,000 and we cannot front that and everything else right now. Thanks for your understanding on this.

IMPORTANT INFO

We are so excited about the new line dance! We are doing a hip hop version of Grease. All Companies and Production Line Members are invited to participate in the line dance. Please email us immediately if you do not want to participate in this dance. We are hoping to compete this dance at nationals. We will be rehearsing some during your normal class times and on Saturdays. We do not have many more Saturdays left before recital to rehearse so we will be starting the line dance next week.

We will be working on statements for April next week and handing those bills out a little early. This will include the May competition fees. We will be needing these fees paid BEFORE APRIL 10TH. Since we will be closed April 2 - April 8, it's going to be cutting it close. This is really important to pay these fees on time this time. All the competitions are set up on-line now and they close down the on-line entry 28-30 days before the show. This doesn't leave us much time. We have a HUGE receivables balance, so we will not be able to cover anyone's competition fees. If you do not pay the fee by APRIL 10TH DEADLINE, you will not be able to attend the competition. Please help us out with this.

We would also like to have a Senior Recognition Luncheon on Saturday, April 14th at the studio. We have 5 Senior Company members who will miss so much! We love them so much and appreciate all their years of hard work and dedication to Mrs. Cathy and to Legacy. Legacy will provide the hamburgers and hot dogs. Bring your tents, coolers and chairs and we will set up to have it outside. If it rains, we will move it to the inside.

Phantoms Costume Update

We have found a lady in California to make our lyrical costumes. She made Hayden's and Leigha's solo costumes that they are wearing this year. She is traveling to LA today pick out our fabrics. We will let you know the final cost later this week after we have finalized a design. She will have these ready for us by April 10 so that we can possibly compete in Atlanta if the dance is ready. We have billed you a couple of $30's to apply toward this costume over the last 2-3 months. This will go towards this costume. So excited that we have found someone to help us with costuming!

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ

Thanks for coming to the dress rehearsal and helping us stay on time. I am a little worried about everyone being on the same page with tights, shoes, hair and accessories. This was to be a full dress rehearsal and we had many that did not have their snaps on their shorts to their skirts, no tights when needed, no shoes, hair falling every which way. The point of dress rehearsal is to make sure there are no costume malfunctions and also to make sure we all look the exact same and I am not sure that was accomplished. So below is a check list for each dance. Please make sure you check this list when packing for this competition. YOU WILL NOT GO ON STAGE IF YOU ARE MISSING PIECES OF YOUR COSTUME OR IF YOUR COSTUME IS NOT FINISHED

Please remember you are to arrive 2 hours early as ready as possible for your first dance. Please do not come in without makeup or hair done and spend the entire 2 hours getting ready. Space is limited at this venue for dressing and makeup and they could possibly be running 2 hours early. So it would be in everyone's be interest to come as ready as possible. We will try and rehearse each dance before going back stage....this practice time will only be for students and teachers. Parents, family and friends will be asked to finish any pictures and socializing before we break away for this practice, so the dancers can fully focus before heading backstage. Parents, please make sure you fully secure all hair pieces and hairstyles with tons and tons of pins and spray/gel. Judges will count off for hair falling out or any piece of the costume falling off. We need to make sure we safety pin any part of the costume that could possibly come unsnapped or fall off. Please bring tons of body tape...the good kind is from Performance Studios on Thompson Lane. Please make sure there are no holes or rips in your tights. Its always a good idea to bring a back up pair of each kind you wear. We WILL be wearing donuts with any kind of bun. This will need to be secured with a hair net also. I understand many of you are opposed to wearing the donut, but there is a good reason for it, or we wouldnt go through the trouble of wearing it. Eyelashes are MANDANTORY for all female dancers. NO exceptions for this.
